A student organizing parent council meetings? Nothing new in that, right? She is demonstrating initiative which is always encouraged.
What if we tell you that this student is an Indigenous student in a school in Western Australian region? Here, ~65% of students are Aboriginal.
Additionall, till about 10 years back, students similar to this one were taught in difficult environment. There was high teacher turnover and poor infrastructure to cater to high proportion of Indigenous students with ESL / ESD?
This success story has been possible due to the hard work of the team at Smarter Stronger Institute.
The SSI, through its Leadership Programs aims to directly improve the educational outcomes for Indigenous Australian and beyond them, all Australian school children.
Edie Wright, Former Regional Director, Western Australian Kimberley Regional Director and Chairperson of Magabala Books was the keynote speaker. She presented how SSI has impacted the lives of thousands of students, teachers, schools and the overall community in the Kimberley region.
Team members from Techforce Services attended this event. They were enthralled & inspired by the contribution to the Indigenous community by the SSI team.
At Techforce Services, we believe in the power of community. We admire the effort put in by the Stronger Smarter Team and wish them all the best in taking the organization’s effort to the next level.
